Genre's i want to choose from.

I have been looking at how i will choose my genre, here are some descriptions of genres i liked the most and the analysis helped me choose which i was going to choose:

Action.

Description:

Lots of action and energy, Expensive when it comes to stunts and big scenes, usually includes fights, escapes, rescues and destructive scenes. (Floods, explosions and natural disasters with non-stop motion). Examples include films like (Spiderman, Batman, The Bourne Identity)

Appealing:

Although an action film would be exciting and fun, i think its main audience is men, aged 13 and over, so i think it would be limited as to who views it. I also think it would be very expensive to get explosions and has a high risk of injuries and we would need to find professionals to help us, so i don't think i will choose action.

Adventure-

Description:

These are usually exciting story lines with new experiences along the way, often has exotic scenes, similar to action but less drama and explosions. They can be similar to historical events and often people going on expeditions. Scenes such as the Jungle and Desserts are very popular. Examples include films like (The Mummy, The Lion King, Australia)

Appealing:

As much as i would enjoy doing an adventure film, i think it would be difficult in the location and area i live, the isle of man is small and cold, with many small towns and no dessert or jungle. I do think the audience for adventures can range from infants to adults so if i had the right surroundings i think i would take this genre into consideration.

Crime and Gangster.
Description:

These type of film are ofter orientated around youth gangs and mobs, often bank robberies, ruthless hoodlums who break the law, usually steeling and murdering. These ofter include scary films which are mixed genres with two mixed into one. Examples include ( F, 8mile, Green Street).
Appealing:
This seem like it would be really exciting to get a gang of youths together and have fum (not literally do those things) but act them out, you would need to figure out some costumes and good deprived areas which would be really difficult. The main audience would be middle-aged teenagers looking for a thrill and amusement.






Horror/Thriller.
Description:

Horror films have a main purpose, to scare us and to bring out people's worst fears, in brilliant ways, they manage to captivate us and entertain us at the same time as frightening us. Over the years horror has Incorporated many different aspects, for example (Monsters, Aliens and Psycho's). It has different genres inside its self. Some examples include (Paranormal Activity, Scream, AvP)
Appealing:
This genre needs a vivid imagination, coming up with all sorts of ideas. I think the Isle Of Man would be great to do this because it has lots of great scenes and fields and beaches. It might be difficulty to do costumes if i chose to do aliens or monsters, but it could be fun to create them, it should be okay if you use human or paranormal genres. I think the audiences for this are teens over the age of 15 because horrors usually fit on or above that certificate.




Sci-Fi.
Description:

This genre is very imaginative, usually involving aliens, planets, quests, fantasy, villains,heroes, technology, unknown forces, extraordinary monsters or space creatures. They are similar to fantasy film and often involve a journey. Some classic examples are (Starwars, War of the worlds, Doctor Who)
Appealing:
I think my imagination for Sci-Fi would be really good, however do i really have the amount of technology needed around me t organise a Trailer full of costumes and special effects? I think it would be expensive and very time consuming. However if i pulled i off i think the audience i would aim at is mainly boys at younger ages such as 10-17, perhaps a little lower or higher depending on the nature of the trailer.






These are the genres that appealed to me, i will be thinking about all i have put on the blog and make a decision as soon as i have decided.
I know there are other genres such as:

Historical

Drama

Musical

Romantic

Comedy

However i think the genre's i have looked at in particular are one's i think are more popular and the audience i am aiming for, i also believe that i will enjoy each of the ones i researched more, which will hopefully come across during the production process.
