Giving out Questionaire.

This is how i sent the email to 10 females, via email using a service called (Windows live Hotmail). The places that are highlighted blue are the way in which i have clarified that its real, in the top right hand corner is my name and asking me to sign out. And the large circle in the centre are the 10 female people that i have asked to respond to my email, if you look closely they are all male names. The one on the bottom left is the attachment of the actual questionnaire its self.

Select few chosen.

I thought it would be a good idea before i do my questionaire to choose a select few that interest me the most.

So i mnaged to narrow it down to 5, these are:

Supernatural
Psychological
Paranormal
Haunting
Cutting Edge

Genre's in Horror.

Horror, it has many genre's within itself, in order to help me decide i am going to analise them and send out a questionaire to my friends to see which one of the following genre's they prefer.

Aliens infuse this subgenre with relentless troublemaking. Overlapping with 'science fiction,' the source of terror is another planet, whose inhabitants are encountered there, or travel to our Earth, if not both. The "Alien" franchise (featuring Sigourney Weaver) leads this charge. Scott Sigler's novel Infected is a recent example, among many. In M. Night Shyamalan's movie Signs, mysterious rural visitors are revealed to be (somewhat improbable) aliens.
Creepy Kids horror is defined by its name. Horror mavens have said that children are mysterious strangers coming into the world--and this subgenre takes that unspoken worry and runs with it. Stephen King's short story and film Children of the Corn are straightforward examples. Many others, such as Richard Donner's film The Omen, involve a child who is directly related to Satan.

Cutting Edge refers to horror that consciously goes against the grain, and is probably without many of the genre's familiar tropes and/or styles. These tales usually feature a modern setting. Often this subgenre is associated with graphic novels, or new venues such as online chapter postings. Author Douglas Clegg has pioneered the latter with his novel Purity.
Dark Fantasy is an overlapping subgenre, and its stories generally feature human evil and strife, rather than supernatural monsters. Karl Edward Wagner's "Kane" books are an oft-cited example.

Dark Fiction is a huge descriptive category, almost as broad as 'speculative fiction.' Many genre publications use it in their title and/or self-description. (Sometimes, for practical reasons, it's used to market a horror story without employing the term itself.)

Erotic horror contains a strong sexual element. In this subgenre the sex can be explict, but it's often far from pleasurable. Alfonsi and Scognamiglio's anthology Dark Seductions is an example. (As authors of this subgenre will regularly inform you, such tales are not for casual reading.)

Extreme (splatterpunk, viceral) This subgenre is as raw as fiction or film can be. The explicit violence and bloody gore are heaped on, often from start to finish.
Splatterpunk is a term coined in imitation of cyberpunk, and favored by certain younger authors. Often these stories incorporate technology.
Viceral is in between these two subgenres, and its stories aim for an "in your face" gross-out.
(Webmaster's prerogative: look up your own examples, if you must.)

Hauntings subgenre tales feature exactly this. Often the persistant ghost is a specific individual, somehow connected to the building or protagonist. The (supposedly true) novel and film The Amityville Horror are famous examples. The TV show The Ghost and Mrs. Muir verged on romance, and the "Caspar" franchise on comedy.

Holocaust tales involve mass deaths, whether during the horrific 20th century event of that name; or involving a similar tragedy, past or future. Those deaths might be due to human slaughter, or from a plague or monsters. In a few bizarre versions, everyone has already died, and today's humanity is the replacement--but doesn't know it. Stephen King's novel and movie The Stand depict a near-future apocalyptic plague.

Humorous horror is fairly common, and its macabre elements are often understated--or exaggerated into parody. The old comic strip and TV show The Addams Family are familiar examples. The anthology Blood Lite from Kevin J. Anderson is a recent contribution to this subgenre.
Mind Control horror exploits this particular fear. The method may be sorcerous or technological, but the victims are compelled to act against their will and better natures--often while fully aware of what's happening. False Memory, by Dean Koontz, is a popular example. Curt Siodmak's novel Donovan's Brain is an early example of invasive medical technology gone awry.

Paranormal is a subgenre with mortal heroes. Such tales emphasize a difficult battle against evil supernatural encroachment, whether by a saintly exorcist or high-tech ghostbusters. There are many popular examples, such as Tobe Hooper's film Poltergeist. (Unlike most 'horror' stories, there's 50-50 chance the good guys will prevail.)

Psychological (surreal)
This subgenre is usually written from a tight viewpoint. Is the protagonist really seeing terrible things, perhaps battling against demonic possession -- or is he (less often, she) going insane? On the flip side, this subgenre can feature an insane protagonist, such as a tormented serial killer. A modern example is the novel Heart Shaped Box, by Joe Hill.
Surreal horror incorporates bizarre imagery, often drawn from vivid, threatening dreams.

Rampant Animals is a subgenre whose name says it all. Perhaps the dominant examples are Stephen King's novel and film Cujo, which feature an unstoppable rabid dog. Aggressive spiders and chthonic monsters and many other nasty critters fill such pages. (Opposite this, William F. Claxton's 1972 film Night of the Lepus attempts to scare people with gigantic rabbits!)

Supernatural (demons, zombies, etc.) These stories focus on various types of monster from 'beyond,' persistantly ruining the lives of a suffering humanity. Often the setting is an isolated village, where the protagonist becomes stranded. There are countless examples. Anne Rice's novels are filled with powerful arcane beings.
Zombies are popular enough to warrant special mention. For example, Richard Matheson's 1954 novel I Am Legend and its several film versions. Others, such as Edgar Wright's film Shaun of the Dead, contain humorous elements.

Chosen Genre and Why?

HORROR.

I have chosen to do horror.
Reasons being are that i personally watch more horror films than any others because they give me the biggest thrill, and when i thought about it, i can think of so many ideas that i would like to come up with.
I think the other genres will also be a little too difficult because the situation of where i live, and the amount of technological appliances i have access too, however the different genre's of horror can help me achieve a good scene to shoot in. I.e. Large buildings, landscapes and street and towns that can look scary in the dark, so i haven't only chosen this on a personal basis but also on the environmental basis too.
I would really like to create to original ideas in this section because its very popular. I believe my trailer can be something original and effective. I would like to stay away form typical horror such as blood and gore, and i am aiming towards a more psychological and mysterious approach.
I want my trailer not to tell the story, but make you want to try and make it up in your mind.

Genre's i want to choose from.

I have been looking at how i will choose my genre, here are some descriptions of genres i liked the most and the analysis helped me choose which i was going to choose:

Action.
Description:
Lots of action and energy, Expensive when it comes to stunts and big scenes, usually includes fights, escapes, rescues and destructive scenes. (Floods, explosions and natural disasters with non-stop motion). Examples include films like (Spiderman, Batman, The Bourne Identity)
Appealing:
Although an action film would be exciting and fun, i think its main audience is men, aged 13 and over, so i think it would be limited as to who views it. I also think it would be very expensive to get explosions and has a high risk of injuries and we would need to find professionals to help us, so i don't think i will choose action.

Adventure-
Description:
These are usually exciting story lines with new experiences along the way, often has exotic scenes, similar to action but less drama and explosions. They can be similar to historical events and often people going on expeditions. Scenes such as the Jungle and Desserts are very popular. Examples include films like (The Mummy, The Lion King, Australia)
Appealing:
As much as i would enjoy doing an adventure film, i think it would be difficult in the location and area i live, the isle of man is small and cold, with many small towns and no dessert or jungle. I do think the audience for adventures can range from infants to adults so if i had the right surroundings i think i would take this genre into consideration.

Crime and Gangster.
Description:
These type of film are ofter orientated around youth gangs and mobs, often bank robberies, ruthless hoodlums who break the law, usually steeling and murdering. These ofter include scary films which are mixed genres with two mixed into one. Examples include ( F, 8mile, Green Street).
Appealing:
This seem like it would be really exciting to get a gang of youths together and have fum (not literally do those things) but act them out, you would need to figure out some costumes and good deprived areas which would be really difficult. The main audience would be middle-aged teenagers looking for a thrill and amusement.

Horror/Thriller.
Description:
Horror films have a main purpose, to scare us and to bring out people's worst fears, in brilliant ways, they manage to captivate us and entertain us at the same time as frightening us. Over the years horror has Incorporated many different aspects, for example (Monsters, Aliens and Psycho's). It has different genres inside its self. Some examples include (Paranormal Activity, Scream, AvP)
Appealing:
This genre needs a vivid imagination, coming up with all sorts of ideas. I think the Isle Of Man would be great to do this because it has lots of great scenes and fields and beaches. It might be difficulty to do costumes if i chose to do aliens or monsters, but it could be fun to create them, it should be okay if you use human or paranormal genres. I think the audiences for this are teens over the age of 15 because horrors usually fit on or above that certificate.

Sci-Fi.
Description:
This genre is very imaginative, usually involving aliens, planets, quests, fantasy, villains, heroes, technology, unknown forces, extraordinary monsters or space creatures. They are similar to fantasy film and often involve a journey. Some classic examples are (Starwars, War of the worlds, Doctor Who)
Appealing:
I think my imagination for Sci-Fi would be really good, however do i really have the amount of technology needed around me t organise a Trailer full of costumes and special effects? I think it would be expensive and very time consuming. However if i pulled i off i think the audience i would aim at is mainly boys at younger ages such as 10-17, perhaps a little lower or higher depending on the nature of the trailer.

These are the genres that appealed to me, i will be thinking about all i have put on the blog and make a decision as soon as i have decided.
I know there are other genres such as:

Historical
Drama
Musical
Romantic
Comedy

However i think the genre's i have looked at in particular are one's i think are more popular and the audience i am aiming for, i also believe that i will enjoy each of the ones i researched more, which will hopefully come across during the production process.

Brief Chosen.

A promotion package for a new film, to include a trailer, and to include;
-A Website
-A poster for the film

The reasoning as to why i hose this was because it completely different to what we did last year, its a lot more technical and i think it ill be enjoyable, my aim is to keep focused on goals and follow a plan i have devised on how to set everything up, from the actual blog the the production of the trailer its self.

im really looking forward to getting started and i hope you enjoy the journey you will see.
